My story began with bold ideas—like myUnisa, a portal that reimagined higher education in South Africa, and Mystar Online, South Africa’s first K-12 learning platform launched in 2010. These projects weren’t just about technology; they were about breaking barriers and building bridges to a brighter future.
The magic of blending traditional learning with technology inspired one of my proudest creations—QR Code-driven interactive workbooks—tools that open new doors for students and redefine what learning can look like.
Recognition, like being named a Technology Top 100 Runner-Up or receiving the FNB Business of the Year Award in 2015, has been an honor. But my true achievements lie in the lives I’ve touched—funding scholarships for over 100 learners, bringing STEM education to rural communities, and equipping teachers with the tools to thrive through digital literacy workshops. These are the milestones that fuel my purpose and remind me why this journey matters.

Hi, I’m Simran Patel—a believer in the limitless potential of the human mind and a passionate advocate for education that changes lives. My journey, rooted in neuroscience and a love for learning, has been driven by one goal: to empower others to unlock their full potential.
It all started with curiosity. My academic path took me to the University of Glasgow, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences with Honors and a Master of Science in Brain Sciences. Now, as I pursue a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, my mission is to deepen our understanding of the brain and harness its incredible power to transform the way we learn.
Before co-founding Campus of Things, I spent five years working with children with autism—an experience that profoundly shaped me. Witnessing the resilience and strength of these children and their families taught me the value of personalized, compassionate education. It also inspired my vision for learning that meets every individual where they are and takes them beyond what they thought possible.
